THE ROLE OF NATIONAL LEADER HEYDAR ALIYEV IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE TOURISM SECTOR IN AZERBAIJAN

Abstract

Azerbaijan is known as an oil country in the world economic market. The Republic of Azerbaijan has a great tourism potential. It is possible to mention the country's natural resources, historical monuments, public geographical position, the coastal zones of the Caspian Sea. This potential is important in reducing dependence on oil. Today, international tourism is in the center of attention in the Republic of Azerbaijan and it is becoming a major force in the non-oil sector of the country's economy. The tourism industry of the Republic of Azerbaijan has already begun to develop. As a result of the state policy pursued in recent years, Azerbaijan has become known in the world as a new tourism destination, and integration into the tourism market at the international level has been ensured. 35 years of the history of Azerbaijan beginning from the late 1960s and proceeding in the 21st century is connected to the name of great leader Heydar Aliyev. Restoration and richening of the statehood traditions of Azerbaijan in late XX century, strengthening of independence of Azerbaijan and making it eternal and firm, assurance of the country’s dynamic economic and tourism development, rapid growth of its international prestige was guaranteed thanks to the fruitful activity of Heydar Aliyev.
