LANDSCAPE DESİGN PROJECT OF IZMİR ATATÜRK SQUARE

Abstract

Town squares are public spaces that generally located in the center of cities. It is used by the residents of the city for social, cultural, political and commercial purposes on special occasions. Izmir Atatürk (Konak) square was chosen as the study area. The governor's office, the municipality building, the clock towers that the symbol of Izmir is located in the square, and it also constitutes an important center of the city with its location where bus, metro, tram and ferry transportation is made. The purpose of the study is to organize the spatial use of the area, which is the biggest, densest and most important square of Izmir, and to increase the physical and visual appeal of the area. In the study, suggestions for the solution of the problematic points of the area were developed and designs were made within a concept. AutoCAD 2020, Adobe Photoshop 2020, 3Dsmax 2020 and Corona renderer 5 programs were used in the drawing of the project. It is predicted that the proposed project and the suggestions presented in the study will have a positive impact on the spatial quality of the area and add value for the city image. As a result, in addition to the functional area uses, an area integrated with the square and green areas will be gained where the people of the city can use it more comfortably and happily.
