The history of the Turkish language is ancient. This fact is also registered with written monuments. Et-Tuhfetü’z-Zekiyye fi’l-lugâti’t-Türkiyye is one of the important monuments of a period defined in the history of the Turkish languages family - the middle Turkish era. EtTuhfe is one of the most important books of the period written in Kipchak Turkish, whose purpose is to teach Turkish to foreigners. Although the author of the book, the place and the date of writing are still unknown, it’s possible to say that Et-Tuhfetü’z-Zekiyye fi’l-lugâti’tTürkiyye is written in the 14th century, i.e. the last period of Mamluks, based on the notes in the book. Comparative analysis of such a historical monument with Azerbaijani Turkish is also important in terms of researching the history of our language. In the studies conducted on the existence of the vocabulary of Turkish dialects, more emphasis is given to common Turkish words. In this study, we will also talk about Et-Tuhfetü’z-Zekiyye fi’l-lugâti’t-Turkiyye and the names of plants commonly used in Azerbaijan Turkish. Turkish dialects Et-Tuhfe and Azerbaijan languages according to the dictionary are similar, but they also have different characteristics and these features show themselves in the names of lexical units, especially plant names. Having such a case, depending on their history and emerged with an independent path of development. Plant names, closely related to the history and geography of the people are one of the valuable sources for studying the culture. The words of name with the same form (alma (Et-Tuhfe) – alma (Azerbaijan) “apple”, arpa (Et-Tuhfe) - arpa (Azerbaijan) “barley, barleycorn”, turp (Et-Tuhfe) - turp (Azerbaijan) “radish”, yemiş (Et-Tuhfe) – yemiş (Azerbaijan) “fruit”, soğan (Et-Tuhfe) - soğan (Azerbaijan) “onion”, kök (Et-Tuhfe) - kök (Azerbaijan) “root” etc.),or with little changes (hayva (Et-Tuhfe) - heyva (Azerbaijan) “quince”, sarımsak/sırımsak (Et-Tuhfe) – sarımsaq (Azerbaijan) “garlic”, kabak (Et-Tuhfe) – qabaq/balqabağı (Azerbaijan) “pumpkin”, buzay/buğday (Et-Tuhfe) – buğda (Azerbaijan) “wheat, oats”, armut (Et-Tuhfe) – armud (Azerbaijan) “pear” etc.) the names of the plants used are the oldest in the history of the Turkish dialects family and the biggest indicator of the origin of these two Turkish languages (Kipchak and Azerbaijan in Et-Tuhfe).
