EDUCATION UNDERSTANDING OF MEHMED AKİF ERSOY

The aim of this research is to reveal the views of Mehmed Akif Ersoy on education and training, who lived in the pre and post-Republic periods and who is a scientist besides his poet identity; In the light of these views, it is to shed light on today's education system by giving information about the general situation of education and training in the last periods of the Ottoman Empire and the beginning of the Republic. For this purpose, Mehmed Akif's main work, "Safahat", was examined very well by observing the social structure of the periods he lived and expressing his strong predictions about the future of the society based on this situation. Afterwards, his other writings and speeches were examined and his expressions that shed light on the solution of today's educational problems were evaluated. The importance Mehmed Akif attaches to the education of children in the family, the activities he performed to educate them and the results he expects from the education have been investigated. In addition, the efforts to establish student, teacher and parent relationship and the basic principles he followed were examined. The research was conducted with the general scanning model, which is one of the scanning arrangements made over the whole population or a group of samples or samples taken from it, in order to make a general judgment about the universe. As a result of the research, it was seen that both the educator personality of Mehmed Akif and the poet personality should be paid attention to. It was understood that he insisted on emphasizing that the foundations of education were laid in the family and that the relationship between students, teachers and parents should be considered important in this education. It has also been observed that he made great efforts to educate the people both with his poems, his speeches, the activities he participated in and his writings. In this respect, it has been determined that he has made great contributions to Turkish education and still continues to make positive contributions with his views. It was determined that Mehmed Akif was an educator who contributed to the education of the Turkish people from seven to seventy. At the end of the research, suggestions were given in the light of Mehmed Akif's views that shed light on today's educational problems with this educator personality
